Kimberly [00:00:05]:

Hello, beautiful souls. It's Kimberly Virginia, your host of the Soulful Motherhood by Design podcast, where we go deep on all things motherhood. I'm a certified positive, discipline, parent educator, accredited life coach, human design specialist, and mother of two precious kiddos. Through inspiring conversations, I'll guide you on this Soulful Motherhood journey and help you to create peace in your home and your heart, raise kind and loving humans, all while living your soul's purpose. So let's get started. I'm so glad you're here.

Kimberly [00:00:40]:

Hello, everyone, and welcome back to the Soulful Motherhood by Design podcast. And I have a gorgeous, amazing goddess guest with me here today. Colette, thank you so much for being here.

Colette [00:00:52]:

Thank you for having me.

Kimberly [00:00:54]:

You're welcome. Everybody. I just have to say really quickly, this was a last minute gift from the universe that we got to be together today. It's a little impromptu, and that's just how we like it. We are these amazing sacral generators who go with what lights us up, and we have the gift of being lit up. So, yeah, we do. Yes. I'm so excited for everyone to hear what you have to offer. Colette. And you and I have had the pleasure of being together in a sister mind with our fabulous business coach, Julie, the art of feminine business. And so I know Colette previously from that group. Colette is a health and life coach and a spiritual channel. A very gifted medium, she helps women who are ready to tap into the divine energy of healing magic in their bodies in order to turn off disease and turn on energized, joyful, vitality. Amazing.

Colette [00:01:51]:

Thank you. It's so fun.

Kimberly [00:01:54]:

Your gifts have astounded me in working with you in our group and seeing what you have available to offer women. By way of what we just talked about in your bio, I'm interested to hear a little bit more about your own health history and how that has informed your business. Will you tell us a little bit about that?

Colette [00:02:13]:

Absolutely. So I was born a health nut. It's just who I am. I've got sisters, a couple of sisters, and, you know, when you want to figure out, how do I fit in, what's my identity? And I chose Sporty Spice, so I've really formed my identity around athletics, but it was one of my strengths, and I lived a very full, loving life up until I did a bodybuilding competition, because who doesn't want to see what is my body capable of? We exercise for fun and for usually some body image stuff. And after that, going so strict, right? Because bodybuilding is strict. It's measured. I ended up with some serious some pretty good health problems. I was way out of whack. I had intense food cravings, and my weight ballooned from this lean, mean bodybuilding machine to being the heaviest I've ever been and just bloated and not fitting my clothes. That gross feeling. And I knew I had a problem when I couldn't stop eating chocolate. And it would literally burn my tongue and give me blisters, but I couldn't stop eating it. And I was living with my brother at the time and he came down the stairs while I was eating chocolate chips out of the pantry. He was the only chocolate I could find. And I shut the door in myself to hide because I felt shame, like, what am I doing? And I can't stop myself. So I got acupuncture and herbs and I rebalanced my body systems. I've just been collecting health data forever from my time on this planet, really. And when my father passed away when I was 21, I felt hopeless, like I couldn't do anything. And the doctors were only saying, you know, you've got this time to live. And I I felt like, that's not it. That's not enough. It's not just chemo and radiation that's going to keep my dad on this planet. And he did all that, but it just wasn't enough. His body kept breaking down and I just knew in my body there is more to disease, there's more, but I didn't have the capacity to find more. I don't know that our awareness of what's going on in the body behind the scenes was where it is now. So unfortunately, I lost my dad to cancer, but it continued to fuel my sense of this is more. And then I lost my ability to drink coffee because I started getting stabbing gut pains. And in 2006, I noticed I wasn't really enjoying life much anymore. And I started crying uncontrollably and was diagnosed with depression. And then my body continued to break down and I developed chronic fatigue and depression, debilitating depression, and even to the point where I did get to the point of suicidal ideation, but I knew this was just a manifestation of something big going on. It wasn't the real me. And so I got the help I needed. And pharmaceuticals are definitely a tool, but they are not it. And medical doctors will say, well, I was told, you're just going to have this your whole life and you're going to need to learn how to deal with it and just manage it. With pharmaceuticals, we'll do some counseling, which also felt very dry. And so as my body continued to break down, I was no longer really able to exercise, which is of course I'm Sporty Spice. This is my identity. So that was a kick to the gut. I wasn't able to drink alcohol anymore because my brain would get so irritated that I would go into crazy irritability and then into a depression for between 24 and 48 hours and then enter that. Now I've got babies and so now I'm a mom dealing with this. And I've got a three year old screaming because why can't I have one more cookie? And I wasn't able to deal with life having these health struggles. And it wasn't until I learned about some other systems that need to be activated in the physical body that I really got some serious healing and I started to get my life back. And when I dived into spirituality, what I specialize in is the combination of looking at the interconnectedness of what makes a whole human being. And that's always been a passion of mine. So, yes, we need the physical body. Like, the physical body is key. And it gives us massive clues. It signals to us that I'm creating disease or physical ailments because my body is out of balance, I have energy blocks somewhere. And then we've got our emotions that are signaling to us. They're telling us something. And then I've learned, in terms of mental health, thoughts are just thoughts. We cannot believe them. And we have to create new thoughts that actually fuel who we really are. And who we really are is deeply connected to connecting with source and discovering our spirituality and learning more about who we truly are and what makes up our spirit, our soul. And so those four have to be connected. And of all the people that I've seen with disease in their bodies, spirituality is totally overlooked. I've never met a doctor who says, yes. They'll say, you need to see a counselor, which is lovely. I love that they're addressing that emotional mental. But where is the connection to ourselves? Because we're feeling the disease in our physical bodies and these crazy emotions and these thoughts that are wackadoo, but we're also not feeling alive. And we know. We know and sense intuitively. We are meant to feel alive. It is part of our purpose here. And we know we have access to it. But how do we grasp it? How do we reach it? That's my story. And a little bit of extra in there for fun.

Kimberly [00:08:23]:

I love it. I absolutely love it. And you hit the nail on the head with how doctors approach things because they want such a quick fix. They want a quick fix for you. And there's an incentive for that. Obviously, we all not to downplay the value of Western medicine, but there is so much more than that. And you and I, both in our work with our clients, and anyone who's listening has heard my last several episodes about how when I'm working with a client, yes, we're talking about human design. Yes, we're talking about positive discipline, conscious parenting. But there's always the layer deeper that I offer messages from the other side. What I'm sensing past life stuff because it's not just, oh, here's your design. Here you go. It's much more spiritual than that. There's always a layer deeper, and it's not exact for every single person. Like, this is exactly the same for each person I work with. If they're a generator or if they're a projector, it's specific to you. And what I heard in what you were just saying is that you can't come in with a disease or a health issue and just, oh, you have a gut issue. This is the one pill you can take. There's so much more than that. There's access to more in your body. And what a valiant heroines journey you went on and are still on to figure out the knowledge within your own body so that you're healing and have healed that depression or those physical ailments that you were experiencing. It's an amazing story. And I've seen you evolve as well over the last year that I've known you. And even right now, there's this light glowing on you that is just having you so radiant. And for everyone listening, I'm sure you can feel that hearing Collette's wisdom, her body wisdom, her soul wisdom coming through that, I imagine, is what you gift to your clients as well. So I'd like to absolutely more about how do you incorporate all of that knowledge in what you do in your coaching with women. And bonus, you can share more about how you've seen it impact mamas.

Colette [00:10:31]:

Yeah, so women come to me because they have these ailments and they're tired. They're tired of all the energy that it takes, and they just want to finally shed the weight. And that's very figurative. I had a mama come to me who was in remission from cancer and did not want it to come back and just said, I know my life needs to change. Something needs to change, but I don't know what it is. I sense what it is, but I'm not sure. And we did some serious digging around and we made some incredible changes that all came from inside of her and came from source. When I was able to channel for her, she's able to intuitively get messages from her body now, and she knows it's not going to come back. She has a knowing, and she gets to be there for her three year old son, which is just so powerful. I have another client who's a doggy mama, full mother, very nurturing. She's a doggie mama and she has debilitating anxiety, and it's holding her back with her relationship with her husband. The fear, the thoughts that would ramble through her head. It became vital that she needed to know. She needed to feel and sense what thoughts were real or the thoughts that weren't real, and then go into her being and find her truth. And I'm so proud of her. In our last session, she stood her ground in something and shared her truth, and it was earth shattering in her world. And she's got such a handle on her anxiety. She can see it now. It's like, oh, no, you're just a thought. And this is the thought that I'm going to plant and live. Yeah. And it's been so powerful. My most recent client came to me with weight gain, and she had the most incredible shift in two sessions and it shifted. We didn't talk about food or exercise at this point. We all know what we need to do. It's beyond that. We went into her intuition and she just started shifting things naturally with ease. And she already feels her body shrinking. She's becoming her true physical expression of who she is. It's just mind blowing. The magic, the power, the power of this work.

Kimberly [00:13:30]:

What a gift to not only ourselves, but the people in our lives. To be able to show up as our very best selves and be back to being and being in our essence. And that's what I heard you say. If I'm reflecting back, that that's what the impact that you have on your clients is not only what they come to you for, which is really just a symptom of something deeper gain, or I want to have more muscle tone, whatever that is. You're able to see, hey, there's something else there. There's something else deeper. And the shift that you're going to make is likely something that you haven't tried before. That's fantastic.

Colette [00:14:12]:

That's right. If you've already tried all the things, you think it'd be working by now. If it's not working, you haven't tried the right thing. And it could be. I always say what I found in my life journey and my health is it's not the right door until it's the right door. Don't give up. Keep knocking on doors and be willing to. My biggest value is curiosity and open mindedness. Please don't ever, don't ever form an opinion on something you know nothing about. Open the door, remain curious and find out. And then your body will tell you. Your intuition will tell you.

Kimberly [00:14:48]:

Yes.

Colette [00:14:49]:

And it might be scary. It might be like, I've never thought about this before. This is so out there. Remain curious, remain open. It might be the thing. And your intuition will know.

Kimberly [00:15:03]:

Yeah, what I love about that too, to reflect your human design. Everyone. Colette is a one four profile. And for those of you who are not well versed in human design yet, the One Four profile is all about what she just said. So the one is this investigator, this curiosity, knowledge for life, this thirst to have understanding and figure things out and just give me all the knowledge on everything. And that is specifically in harmony with the line Four, which the line four is establishing this base of people, these relationships, these connections. So everything you're saying to me right now, this curiosity, but also pairing that with the relationship, and we can all learn something from that in being more curious or allowing someone to help us guide the way to be open minded and ask questions, to really understand and hear more about what might be going on. So I love that. Not only that's your design, but that's what you're embodying in your business. It's fantastic.

Colette [00:16:09]:

That's really cool to hear you say that.

Kimberly [00:16:11]:

I love it. I have to always tie it back to human design.

Colette [00:16:15]:

Absolutely.

Kimberly [00:16:17]:

And you have two kiddos of your own, and how old are they?

Colette [00:16:21]:

They are now turning 13 and ten.

Kimberly [00:16:26]:

Wow. And tell me your own journey with everything you embody within your coaching, how has that impacted your journey with motherhood?

Colette [00:16:38]:

It has allowed me to break all kinds of boxes. We took our kids when they were four and seven. We pulled the youngest out of daycare to save daycare know, and we pulled their eldest out of grade two, and we went traveling Southeast Asia for a year. My husband got a leave of absence. My previous company dissolved when the oil and gas market crashed. And so I love when we can get bad news, quote unquote, like the oil and gas market crashing, but I love sitting in it's kind of like a soup of possibility. And now like, oh, my God, anything's possible. And so we took the kids traveling and we just explored Southeast Asia, country after country, just diving into culture and different landscapes and ways of living, ways of seeing the world, living with nothing but our six outfits, no makeup. We got back to simplicity and nature and discovery and exploration, and we ended up living in Vietnam for six months and finding an incredible community. So I love thinking outside of the box with parenthood because even now, our kids just decided they want competitive sports this year. So our son wants competitive soccer. Our daughter wants competitive acro. I want to live in another country for six months, and now our daughter is going into grade eight. So how do we work that? And it's a soup of possibility. Anything is possible. Yeah.

Kimberly [00:18:30]:

And what a gift that everything that you've been through and the business that you bring about to this world is also allowing you to create such depth of experience within your own life, but also for your family to be raised with that possibility. That wasn't something talked about often as a kid, like, what's possible? It might have been what I dreamt about, but it wasn't necessarily at the dinner table. Something we were conversing about. And I love that your children are being raised that way. These spiritual little magical beings who are like, what's possible, mom? What can we do as a family? And how can we each make it so that we're all getting to live our dreams, not just one of us. We all get to. If you're not able to embody that, it's not going to be alive in your family. So good on you. That's amazing.

Colette [00:19:28]:

I've got two other funny possibility stories, actually, that I think are really important for kids. So being a coach, right, my mind is wide open because I help my clients get their minds wide open and see all the possibilities, not be stuck on this choice or that choice. So my daughter, she's coming into her teen years right so society tells us, oh, you're going to have a teenager. OOH, she's a girl. Oh, you wait. Well, possibility maybe, but maybe not. And then my son's room, he has decided to just leave everything everywhere. It covers every space. And for the first time, I'm not worried about I'm not going to clean it up because, well, what's possible? I know some moms that have never looked after their kids rooms, and a switch goes off at 16, and all of a sudden, their kid is like, that's it. I can't stand mess. I'm going to clean my room. So I'm playing with the possibility of how will my son come to a place of respecting his belongings, feeling in his body the discomfort of clutter and mess? So I'm sitting in a place of possibility there as well. It's just really interesting. It can be applied to motherhood so easily and so often.

Kimberly [00:20:40]:

Well, I love also hearing that neutrality is what I just heard in there, too. When you're able to be neutral with some of the outcomes or some of the things that we've been conditioned to think that we should care a lot about a messy house, a messy room, sure. I physically feel better in a clean space. It helps me do better business. It helps me channel. It helps me all these things. And also, I discovered that on my own, my parents never pushed that on me. They never made me clean up my room. They never made me do anything. I did discover that on my own and how I like things organized. And what does quote, unquote, clean and organized mean to me? And the neutrality there allows for that possibility, because if you are so hooked on a certain outcome for somebody else, it doesn't allow them to see that for themselves.

Colette [00:21:37]:

No. And it just creates tension. It's just tension. I want to have a deep, meaningful connection with my son based on play. So what can I let go of? What was I programmed, like you said, to believe was important and to play.

Kimberly [00:21:53]:

With your coaching style, with your kids, which is some of what I hear you saying in that. Asking questions, getting curious, maybe, oh, I don't feel that great today, mom. And I just I can't find my clothes. I'm curious. What do you think is having you feel that way? Yeah, my room smell really messy, mom.

Colette [00:22:13]:

What is it?

Kimberly [00:22:18]:

I love that you said you had one other story. You still want to share that? Do you remember it? We got off on our little amazing rabbit hole, which I love.

Colette [00:22:26]:

Yeah, we did. No, I just wanted to just send Mamas a little message, if that's okay with you.

Kimberly [00:22:37]:

Please.

Colette [00:22:38]:

Yeah. I want to let Mamas know that if you're feeling a physical ailment in your body or you're getting bombarded with thoughts or you feel your emotions are really in control of you yeah. Your body's breaking down in some way. Just please take it as a signal that something is just out of balance and you deserve to invest your time, energy, finances in working with somebody who's got you, like who truly will see you and will meet you. With where you are and guide you to getting to know yourself a little bit more intimately on a spiritual level, allowing more of those other pieces to come back together into alignment with who you truly are and how you're meant to live and to access that aliveness that vitality that you know is there. You sense it. It's there for you. So I'd love you, mamas to be kind to yourself, get help and just know the longer that we set ourselves aside and we ignore those deep messages of disease imbalance, just know that it is a ball rolling down a hill. We don't want to know what the worst outcomes can be. And you're worth it. Your kids are worth it. And yes, source has your back. There's beautiful messages for you that you just need to ask.

Kimberly [00:24:27]:

Thank you so much for that. What I feel is a channeled message for all these moms listening.

Colette [00:24:34]:

It felt like a channel coming through. I could tell I was talking without thinking and that's what I'm channeling.

Kimberly [00:24:42]:

I felt that. I felt that. And there's so many people who are listening who need to hear that. Thank you so much for that gift. You're welcome.
